This year’s Business Parent of the Year, Sarah Walsh, has been labelled as the perfect example of what can be achieved when you combine passion and hard work.
With a background in marketing, Sarah Walsh decided to begin her first business BabaBox, not only while she was pregnant but also during a hectic move from London, back to Ireland. BabaBox specialises in unique subscription boxes for new mothers, that feature a distinctive collection of beautifully selected products from independent brands. “When I was thinking about what I wanted to do when my maternity leave was over, I was looking for something that would be more flexible so that I could spend the time with my son.” Six months after Ted was born, BabaBox was up and running. In between afternoon naps (for Ted) and snatched moments in the evening, Sarah worked tirelessly to perfect her new brand. Nominator, Amy says, “Through it all Sarah just kept moving forward, methodically taking one step after another, showcasing her remarkable grit and her excellent time management and organisational skills in the process.”
Sarah has transformed BabaBox into a business that is garnering attention at both home and abroad. With Ted now at toddler status, Sarah has taken on a second enterprise, Slingshot Digital and impressed those around her with her ambition and unwavering work ethic. She says, “I’m really honoured and delighted to receive this award and it’s a great culmination of the couple of years work.”
