Free under six GP care scheme begins today
Parents who signed their children up and received their card will now benefit from free GP visits and asthma care for their children under the age of six from today.
79,000 children across the country are signed up to the scheme and a total of 84 percent of GPs signed on also to offer their services under the scheme.
While the matter still remains of families who cannot sign their children onto the scheme, due to a lack of signed up GPs in their area, those who have successfully signed up and received their card will see parents save up to €50 on GP visits.
West Cork, south Tipperary, Dublin South East, Louth and Kildare were last noted as the counties with the least amount of doctor sign ups, however the HSE have said they aim to provide a GP to families who have made three unsuccessful attempts with three GPS.
