Headache! While some linger relentlessly around your temples like an irritating bee disrupting your day, others feel as though a surgical knife has cracked your cranium in two.
If you’re a chronic headache sufferer you’ll know that sometimes a prescription of two painkillers and a thick pair of ear plugs takes too long to have any meaningful effect.
Thankfully, this new found hack won’t take hours to hit your bloodstream. Instead, if the rumors are to be believed, it promises to start easing your head pain almost immediately.
Holding up in a dark room for a couple of hours seems like the ideal solution, but who are you kidding? You’re a busy parent… you DON’T have that kind of free time on your hands. While your instincts tell you to stay in the dark, the answer can actually be found in the light…green light that is!
According to recent research into migraine relief, light therapy which exposes patients to green light can help alleviate the pain caused by headaches. Researchers in Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre exposed 69 migraine patients to different colours of light. They found that while blue light exacerbated headache pain, a narrow spectrum of low-intensity green light significantly reduced light sensitivity.
The exposure to green light resulted in pain being reduced by almost 20 per cent.
