6 weird things that parents do in public

Being a parent is an immersive job – you find yourself repeating the lingo and going through the motions even when you’re off duty. Here are some of the weirdest things we’ve done in public that our pre-baby selves would never dream of doing!

The bum sniff

Sniffing your baby’s bum to decipher if they need a change or not. It may be weird to those of you without the pleasure of children, but to us, it’s an everyday occurrence.

Baby talk

Maybe you and your partner did a little bit of this behind closed doors, but now whenever you open your mouth that strangled high-pitched whine comes out.

Nose-wiping

You’ve bathed and dressed your child before the creche dropoff, but once you get there you realise that his nose has been streaming like a tap. Before anyone notices* (or so you think!) you grab his snot with your fingers and wipe it away. This is only to be beaten by the blowing-nose-into-sleeve move (for classier places).

*Everyone noticed.

Dirty clothes

Parenting is a state of mind, being and dress. If there’s not some kind of bodily fluid on your clothes, are you even doing it right?

10 things no one told you about having a baby
Shared DNA

Eating the leftover food off of your kid’s plate even after they’ve touched and licked every inch of it. What’s the worst that could happen?

Going to the potty

Nothing like telling your friends you have to ‘go potty’ or ‘do your wee’ when you’re on a night out with the girls.  There’s no such thing as being too weird when you’re around friends, is there?
