Holly Willoughby, the much-loved English TV presenter, and mother of three has recently raised a few eyebrows with the publication of her vegan baby cookbook.

Vegan diet
The book titled “Truly Scrumptious Baby – My complete feeding and weaning plan for six months and beyond” was released last month to differing views. In it, she wrote: ”Weaning a baby on a vegan diet does require a little more planning.
“Energy density of food can be a concern as vegan food is often high in fibre but not very energy dense.”
But despite this, she insisted that babies can get everything they need from the diet. “Foods such as hummus, tahini, bananas, nut or seed butters, dried fruit, nutritional yeast and fortified (unsweetened) milk make great additions but it does all come back to balance and variety,” she added.

The facts
However, the NHS has said: “If you’re breastfeeding and you’re on a vegan diet, it’s important that you take a vitamin D supplement. You may also need extra vitamin B12.” in response to the publication of the book.
Celeb advice
But the fact remains that Holly Willoughby, though an excellent presence on our screens is not a dietician, nor a healthcare professional. And it’s best to take advice from people with the relevant qualifications, rather than a great fan-base.
