Shocking ‘Hot Car Challenge’ shows what it’s really like for children left alone in cars

A shocking new social experiment done in the US by non-profit organisation Kars4Kids has gained huge attention after they created the Hot Car Challenge.

The challenge aims to show adults how unbearably hot it can become in cars when babies and young children are left unattended in cars on a hot day, even for a few minutes.

Each adult was strapped into a bumper seat in a car, with no windows left open, and was offered $100 if they could stay in the car for ten minutes. They were given a buzzer to press if they needed to get out because of the heat.

Not one adult made the full ten minutes without pressing the buzzer, all desperate to get out of the car due to the unbearable temperatures.

The video experiment shows just how hot it can get in a car when doors and windows are closed and aims to raise awareness of the shocking fact that each week in the United States one child dies from heatstroke after being left in a car alone.
