What to think of when buying a cot

When preparing for your new baby parents make lists and lists of things they need before baby’s arrival. One of the most important things on that list is a cot.

Certain cots can cost parents an upwards of €300+ so when picking out a cot you better make sure its one you love. Don’t wait till the last trimester to panic and but the first one you see. Take your time and do your research.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • How much space do I have in the nursery?
  • Can I reuse my older child’s cot?
  • Does the cot provide extra storage?
  • Does it come with a mobile?
  • Are there any extra features with this exact cot?
  • Does it have drop or fixed sides?
  • How easy is it to move?
  • Is it easy for me to assemble?
  • How much does it cost?
  • Are the slats too far apart? Could baby fall out?
  • What specific safety features does this cot have?
  • Is the mattress included? If so it easily replaced? If not, how expensive is it?
  • Does the cot convert into a bed?
  • Is it sturdy enough to hold baby?
  • Does it come with a warranty at all?
  • How much does it cost?
