We all love a nice bowl of cereal in the morning, but a lot of the time there’s an excess of sugar, salt, and fat in our store-bought cereal. The obvious way to avoid that is to make your own or give your kids plain porridge every day. But if you want to make breakfast a little more exciting, why not try this homemade granola? It takes about 12 minutes to make (seriously, we timed it!) and it’s packed full of nuts, seeds, and fibre which help to keep your their tummies full and healthy!
How to make healthy homemade granola
- 2 cups porridge oats
- ½ cup of chopped nuts
- ½ cup seeds
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- ½ cup of chopped dried fruit
- 3 tbsp honey/maple syrup/golden syrup (or a combo of both)
- Pinch of salt
Method: Preheat your oven to 160 degrees Celsius. Place all your ingredients into a bowl and mix together. Use your hands to ensure that the oats get coated in the oil and honey. Once mixed together, spread out on a non-stick baking tray (or use greaseproof paper) and bake in the oven for about 10 minutes. Enjoy with yoghurt and fruit, on it’s own or in a bowl with some milk!
