Easy home made face scrubs for mums on the go
Homemade face scrubs are the cheap, easy and natural way to better looking skin! When you have children time is always a constraint, and sometimes time to properly look after your skin is not always available. However, these easy homemade scrubs can be made with ingredients probably already in your kitchen cupboards! These scrubs can be stored in glass jars, and kept for further use or given as cute gifts, and will leave your skin glowing!
Honey and oatmeal scrub
Oatmeal is an excellent exfoliant. It calms redness and symptoms of rosacea and removes dead skin cells. Honey is a natural antioxident, acts as a great moisturiser and combats signs of ageing. Combined, these two natural ingredients will leave your skin feeling and looking fresh and rejuevenated.
3/4 cup of oatmeal (I used whole grain steel cut oats)
1/4 cup of honey
1/4 cup of water
1/4 lemon juice
In a bowl, mix your oatmeal, honey, and lemon. You can choose to grind the oats in a coffee blender if you prefer a smoother consistency, or leave as they are for a harsher scrub effect. Rinse your face with warm water to open your pores. Apply the scrub to your face and scrub gently, avoiding the eye area. Wash hands. Rinse off with warm water, then cool to close your pores.
Brown sugar scrub
Brown sugar has wonderful results for the skin when used as a facial scrub. Brown sugar contains glycolic acid, that fights bacteria and toxins and locks in moisture giving you younger and fresher looking skin. It also helps to improve sun damage and offers support to ageing skin.
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil
2 tablespoons honey
Mix sugar, honey and olive or coconut oil together in a bowl. Making sure your hands are washed, rinse your face with warm water to open your pores. Apply the scrub to your face and scrub gently, avoiding the eye area. Rinse off with warm water, then cool to close your pore.
Bananas contain vitamins A, C and E, which help fight acne and dry skin and protect skin from UV damage and slow down the skin’s ageing process. Rich in powerful anti-oxidants, phytochemicals and moisture, banana will nourish and revitalize dry skin.

1 tablespoon of coconut oil or olive oil
Mix banana, brown sugar and cococnut or olive oil together in a bowl. With clean hands, rinse your face with warm water to open your pores. Apply the scrub to your face and scrub gently, avoiding the eye area. Rinse off with warm water, then cool to close your pores.
