10 reasons to be thankful you’re a mum

It’s hard work, sure, and fairly relentless, but one thing’s for certain: we wouldn’t swap our kids for anything. Here are ten reasons why we’re thankful to be a mum

Those adorable first smiles

Is there anything cuter than those beautiful gummy first smiles that appear around six weeks or so (aka just when you’re about to collapse with stress and exhaustion)?

Reliving happy memories

Is there anything as magical as experiencing things like Santa all over again – but through your child’s eyes? For some reason it’s even more special and beautiful.

Watching them learn

Seeing them grow and learn about the world is very special and a real privilege. Sometimes they even teach us jaded parents new ways of looking at things.

The importance of little things

Kids remind you that the important things in life are small and pretty much free (apart from ice cream). Hugs, walks in the park and spoending time with family rate higher on the list than new toys.

Being mindful and present

Kids are all about the now. As we all now, mindfulness is an important component in a healthy lifestyle, and what’s more mindful that throwing yourself into a game with your little one?

Being a child again

Kids also give you the opportunity to be a kid again. Jump in those puddles, crunch through those leaves, roll down that hill, laugh like there’s no tomorrow – playing is FUN.

Having a best friend

Kids instinctively know when you need a hug or an impromptu “I love you” – and what cheers you up more than those little arms being flung around your neck?

Those giggles!

Tickle a toddler and lose yourself in those infectuous giggles and belly laughs. The best therapy known to man.

Watching the personality develop

Yes, it’s might be a stubborn streak, but aren’t you proud of the strong little person your child is becoming?

Watching them sleep

Because, let’s face it, it’s been a loooong day!
